One-Day Events, pioneered by The Northern Kentucky Community Chorus

One day only. No experience required. No long commitment to rehearsals. Yet enjoy learning from the finest choral conductors in the region. Singing is something everyone can do. It helps us to express ourselves. We learn about composers and music from a wide range of countries and time periods.
Our Come and Sing events are open to all singers from 9th grade through adults, and are usually held at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 2690 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, KY.
We learn about breathing and vocal production. Singing in choirs creates a cultural community that gives us belonging and joy. Everyone should sing in a choir — at school, church, temple, or a community choir. There is a place for everyone and we want you to Come and Sing!

Come & Sing: Bach — October 25th
Our first event this season will be a masterclass in all things Bach. We will learn Bach’s Cantata #161 plus a few other pieces. Guest conductor, Carlton Monroe, artistic director of the Bach Ensemble, October 25th. $10 / person (lunch included).

Come & Sing: Handel’s Messiah — December 20th
What a way to get into the spirit of the holidays! We will jump into the major movements of the Messiah, and of course end with a gala Hallelujah Chorus! Everyone who’s ever enjoyed singing parts of the Messiah, in a choir or in the shower, will connect with the energy. Soloists! Instrumentalists! This will be an experience not to miss. Don’t want to sing, but enjoy just hearing the music? Come and sit in the back as our audience for the day. Free! (Note venue change: Madison Avenue Christian Church, Covington)

Come & Sing: The Music of Howard Helvey — February 21st, 2026
A rare opportunity! We will spend the day with the famed composer Howard Helvey digging into several of his favorite choral works. Many choirs around the country include a Helvey piece in their repertoire. Here’s a once-only chance to learn how he hears his pieces. $10 / person (lunch included).
